+ A MONTH OF INJURIES (31/07/2009 - 00:17:38)
+ CHAZZA CHARGES HOME (30/07/2009 - 23:50:31)
Scriven’s Racing has been hit by injuries; firstly it was Charlie Anderson who broke his humorous at the AIS, he is fully recovered, finishing the Victorian MX Championships in 8th on the CRF150RB.
Next, Kenny Collins had a training mishap at Broadmeadows resulting in breaking four vertebra, a punctured lung, broken sternum and a number of ribs; he should have his first ride on the 09 CRF450 this weekend.
Then Brett Hazeldene broke his femur at Shepparton’s Northern Region, he is responding well to physio, all he wants to do is ride (we have a good 09 CRF450 for sale).
Lastly it was Mark Grove who broke his right tibia and fibula while practicing at Bacchus Marsh, he has a 40cm rod, no plaster which is awesome because he gets married in 6 weeks. He still hopes to compete in this year’s Australian Supercross Championship.
Scriven’s Racing rider Charlie Anderson returns from injury finishing a respectable 8th on his Honda CRF150RB in the A Grade 85/80BW and 150cc 4 stroke (12-U16yrs) class of the 2009 Junior Victorian Motocross Championships.
The thirteen year old from Hay, New South Wales, missed the first round of the three round series, held at Ararat, Cobram and Rosebud, obtaining an injury at the Australian Institute of Sport in May, trying out for the Australian team competing in the 2009 Roadcraft FIM Junior Motocross World Championship, Taupo, New Zealand. Breaking his humerous, the youngster was pressed for bike time, receiving the ‘okay’ to compete from his specialist just one week before the second round held a Cobram, where he finished 7th overall. The final round held at Rosebud (25/26 July), Charlie would finish 6th for the day and 8th for the Series.
“I just wanted to keep my number 8 plate, I have done that, now, after riding the sand at Rosebud, I released that my fitness let me down, I am now working on that so I will be right for the Aussies in September.”
Charlie also competed in the premier 250cc 4stroke class, finishing 27th at Cobram, and 17th at Rosebud, achieving a 40th overall.
“I am only thirteen, competing with the 15 and 16 year olds that go senior next year, I am happy with a top 40.”
Charlie’s next major meeting will be the 2009 Honda Junior Australian Motocross Championships to be held at Victoria’s Maffra-Sale Motorcycle Club’s Newry circuit in late September.

The riders will now attend a three day intensive AIS Training Camp from which the final eight riders for each class will be selected to compete in Taupo, New Zealand on 15-16 August 2009. Two emergencies will also be selected for each class.
Team Coach, Greg Moss, and Team Manager, Mark Willingham both said that selecting riders for the camp was incredibly difficult and believe that even harder decisions are still to be made.
“Due to the great depth of talent in these age groups at the moment, whittling the list down to these 26 riders was an incredibly difficult task,” Willingham said.
“We were lucky enough to be well supported by Kevin Williams and WEM in allowing the qualifiers to take place as part of the National Championship, and for this we are extremely grateful.
“Following the AIS camp we will be faced with an even tougher decision; to select a team to represent Australia on the world stage.”
Moss agreed saying that for most of these riders, this is the biggest thing they’ve participated in so far.
“The AIS is the best place for elite athletes in Australia, and while picking a team was obviously extremely hard to do, for those riders who don’t make the final eight, they will still benefit enormously from being at the camp,” Moss said.
“The selection races for most of these guys has been the biggest race of their lives, and the intensity level will be a lot higher when we get to New Zealand, so I’ll be trying to get the guys as much experience before they get over there.”
The final team selection will be made following the AIS camp and will be announced by MA.
